We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (aka WANEGBT) was the highly anticipated first single off Swift’s fourth album Red. Swift explained the inspiration behind the writing session, “[My friend] starts talking about how he’s heard [my ex and I] were getting back together and that was not the case. When he leaves, Max and Johan are like, ‘So what’s the story behind that?’ And so I start telling them the story of ‘break up, get back together, break up, get back together,’ just, ugh, the worst.” song is most likely about ex-boyfriend Jake Gyllenhaal for several reasons, most notably when Swift yelled out "Jake it's your turn" after performing the tune at the I Heart Radio Music Festival in September (watch the video here). Swift's male co-star in the ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ music video also looks highly reminiscent of the actor and he wears a puffy jacket much like Gyllenhaal's own in a highly publicized photo of the couple. Additionally, in a commercial for the MTV Video Music Awards Kevin Hart shows Swift a photo of her walking with Gyllenhaal with Hart’s face pasted on the actor’s body.
